SIRA Career Training in Plano, Texas, gives the student beneficial information that they'll need to complete their training as a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Phlebotomy Technician. So why not start your career education with us?

Nursing Assistant (NA) assists patients with daily living and fundamental tasks.  NAs work in hospitals, Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes and Mental Health facilities.  Some also assist patients at their residences. After our students finish their training, they will seat for Nursing Assistant Certification test to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA). Once completed, you may test for Nurse Aide Certification and become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Patient Care Technician (PCT) works with doctors, nurses, support staff and other health care professional and is responsible for assisting them and looking after direct patient care in hospitals, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation clinics or nursing homes.  A PCT job can be broadly divided into following main areas essential to health care. These are collecting and testing patient specimen, and recording the patient’s vital health information.  Various duties of a PCT job description may be similar to professions like those of nursing, hospital attendants, nurse attendants, nursing assistant (NA) and home health aides. PCT have skills in phlebotomy and EKG which NA may not.

Phlebotomy Technician is a health care professional responsible for the collection and handling of blood specimens used in diagnosing and tracking illnesses, drug testing, or other health-related areas requiring a blood sample.

What does being a Phlebotomist involve?

Phlebotomy Technicians work in hospitals, medical offices, physician offices, group practices, independent laboratories, health maintenance organizations, and public facilities. Duties of a phlebotomy technician may include drawing blood, preparing specimens for storage or testing, assembling equipment and verifying patients' records. A phlebotomist may also interview and screen donors at a blood bank.
